Glendale Memorial Cancer Center
Type: Medical Office
Construction: Wood stud and stucco, truss roof and concrete basement
Location: Glendale, CA
Glendale Memorial Cancer Center is located in Glendale, CA on the campus of the Glendale Memorial Hospital. Although it is a cancer center there is actually no cancer radiation treatment done here. The in-office treatment is mostly ultra sound imaging for breast cancer. The building is actually a two story building with a full basement below that is being used for medical records storage for the hospital. The construction of the basement within the tight confines of the hospital campus required that the whole basement excavation be performed using steel shoring around the perimeter that had wood lagging installed as the excavation went deeper. Once the basement was excavated the floor was poured and the walls had rebar installed and then the concrete was poured for the walls and structure. The floor of the office was a truss system spanning over the basement. The office building above grade is a wood framed structure with wood studs with sheetrock on the inside and plaster on the exterior with the wall cavity filled with insulation. The roof is a structural truss system with an asphalt roll-roofing finish roof. The interior tenant improvements were designed for a typical medical office layout with space for Doctor’s private offices and exam rooms for patients.
